Is it a copyright violation to use information from a dictionary in my book?

I want to take definitions from the Webster's dictionary. Do I need permission? Is it a copyright violation to use information from a dictionary in my book?
No you dont simple as that you may copy stuff out of it.Is it a copyright violation to use information from a dictionary in my book?
Copyright protects the "creative" part of a dictionary, not the ideas, words or their definitions. You cannot photocopy the pages, but you can use the same words of definition. Is it a copyright violation to use information from a dictionary in my book?
Directly copying the info out of a dictionary is a copyright violation.

Just using it as a reference is not.
