There’s been some recent talk about how the Bible Students surmised and speculated about things in the past such as how the faithful men of old would be resurrected in 1925 and how, more recently, many Witnesses conjectured and speculated about the year 1975. It has been suggested that speculation is bad, because of that day and hour no one knows.
Yet, there is apparently some kind of word of mouth speculation still going on according to all the answers I’ve been reading lately about how Armageddon is "just around the corner" and "will occur very, very soon."
I thought to look up this word “speculate” in the dictionary. Any of you who have access to a Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, could you look that word up and share what the Latin root “specula” means? Is this something we can all laugh about together even though we don’t always see eye to eye?Jehovah's Witnesses, do you own a Merriam-Webster's Dictionary? What does the word "speculate" mean?
Specula= Watchtower.Jehovah's Witnesses, do you own a Merriam-Webster's Dictionary? What does the word "speculate" mean?
Does a pregnant woman speculate on when her baby is due?
When the date comes that she specualtes and it passes does she throw away the baby clothes and decide that the baby is not coming after all?
Is she a worthless mother because she got the date wrong?
(1 Thessalonians 5:3-5) Whenever it is that they are saying: “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.
(Romans 8:25) ?But if we hope for what we do not see, we keep on waiting for it with endurance.Jehovah's Witnesses, do you own a Merriam-Webster's Dictionary? What does the word "speculate" mean?
